Human Resistance (1998-2010) - Palestinian Artist SAMIRA BADRAN

In this series of photographs, Samira Badran studies the mannequins that were made in China but have became a phenomena in the Jerusalem scene. She is interested in the manner in which they adapted to what she calls the “Jerusalem Syndrome”, and how they have adopted the physical state of deterioration that surrounds the city, complimented by emotions of sadness and depression.

Samira writes:

Their Aspect is a testimony to the harsh economic reality and the confinement of the Palestinian people. Their presence for me is a metaphor, reflecting the reality of our situation.
